Edwardsville's Liberty Middle School Softball Panthers defeated the Alton Middle School Redbirds in both games of the season opener double header in Alton Illinois on August 10th 2009. Game one ended with a score of 9 to 0 and the second game ended early due to time constraints with a score of 11 to 1.
